Lower Mustang Trek is a mystical journey that offers Tibetan Buddhist culture, barren landscape, and some of the best views of the Annapurna Himalayas, aka the western Himalayas. Even though Lower Mustang Trekking does not take you to a very high altitude, the views and experience you will get on this venture is unlike any other part of Nepal. Mustang region is called the hidden treasure of Nepal that houses centuries-old preserved cultural heritage, unspoiled nature, and kindest people. Himalayan mountains like Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Nilgiri (7,061 m), Mt. Fishtail (6,993 m), Mt. Tukuche (6,920 m), Mt. Himalchuli (7,893 m), etc are some of the snow-capped massifs that are visible throughout the trek. Likewise, Lower Mustang Trek will take you across the deepest gorge in the world, Kali Gandaki gorge, and one of the holiest sites in Nepal, Muktinath temple.
Lower Mustang Trekking is an adventurous journey full of biological diversity, cultural encounters, and once in a lifetime experiences. The trail passes by villages and dense forests. Moreover, we have designed our Lower Mustang Trek itinerary including the very famous Poon Hill viewpoint and Tatopani village, known for its natural hot springs.
When you arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport, where you can see our team member holding your nameplate near the terminal gate. He will take you to the hotel. In the evening, you meet with team members over a welcome dinner at hotel.
After having a delicious breakfast in morning, Our tour guide take you to sightseeing of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Your tour guide will introduce you to the monuments and their importance and history. You get to learn about Nepali culture, art, and architecture during the tour in Kathmandu valley.
Next day, you will travel to Pokhara, the city of lakes and fishtail mountains. You can either fly or drive to reach Pokhara. Either way, you can see the amazing landscape of mountains. Upon reaching Pokhara, you move to the hotel to stay. Spend the rest of the day strolling around Lakeside. Also, don't forget to do boating on tranquil Fewa Lake, enjoying the gorgeous sunset and Mt. Fishtail in the evening time.
Another drive from Pokhara takes you to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. The trail from Nayapul goes along the subtropical Modi Khola river valley. You reach Birethanti and pass by lush forests to reach Tikhedhunga for a night stay. In the morning you can see a beautiful sceneary of Nature.
From Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani, the trail gradually ascends towards picturesque Ghorepani village. After several ascends and descends through lovely rhododendron forest, you reach Ghorepani from where you can see magnificent views of Annapurna South, Mt. Machhapuchhre, Mt. Hiunchuli, etc.
Today, you wake up early in the morning and hike to Poon Hill to witness amazing sunrise along with western Himalayan mountains like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fishtail, Hiunchuli, Tukuche, etc. The trail then continues towards Tatopani. Descending through Ghar Khola, you pass by lush forests, where you can see a variety of birds and flora. Tatopani is famous for its natural hot springs. Spend some time enjoying the hot spring water and relaxing your muscles.
The trail moves along a dusty broad motor road. Further, walking along Kali Gandaki River, you slowly ascend and pass by the beautiful waterfall of Rupche Chahara. The trail then passes by deep gorges and takes you to Ghasa.
From Ghasa, you follow the forest path that moves along the banks of Lete River. You will reach Lete village, and further, walk along the east side of Kali Gandaki valley to reach Larjung village. From here, you pass by beautiful apple orchards and reach at Marpha village.
Continue trekking along the east bank of a river and reach at Ekla Bhatti. From here, you walk along the bottom of the valley to reach Kagbeni from where you can see excellent views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho Peak, Nilgiri, etc.
From Kagbeni, the trail ascends steeply, offering wonderful views of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, and Kali Gandaki Valley. Passing by Jharkot, where you can see Tibetan culture, you go to Muktinath. Muktinath is a very famous and important pilgrimage site in Nepal. It is one of the world’s highest temples.
You visit the Muktinath temple in the morning and retrace the path back to Jharkot. From here, you walk following a small irrigation tram to Khingar. The trail then moves towards Jomsom, the administrative headquarters of Mustang.
After early morning breakfast, you fly to Pokhara. The flight offers breath-taking views of snow-capped mountains. Upon landing at the airport, the guide will take you to the hotel. The rest of the day exploring around and buying souvenirs.
Again, you can drive or fly to Kathmandu as you feel. Upon reaching at Kathmandu, the guidewill take you to the hotel. The rest of the day is leisure/relax.
The guide will take you for sightseeing in Kathmandu valley. Explore the tourist areas and visit the world heritages monuments like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath Temple, etc. Later in the day, you can visit the local market and do shopping. The night ends with a farewell dinner at hotel.
Our airport representative will drop you at the terminal gate of the international airport and wish you our last goodbye.
